Sacred Service Team Descriptions

Altar Ministry – The Altar Ministry creates beautiful fresh flower arrangements for the altar on Sundays. You may help the team but volunteering your aesthetic talents or by donating flowers. (you may dedicate an altar arrangement by calling Dir. of Operations, Peter Stringham in the office)
Art Gallery Team – Coordinates and facilitates the monthly art shows in the church gallery space. Congregants are welcome to submit their own work to the gallery and/or volunteer to help curate the gallery.
Board of Trustees – the leadership group of dedicated volunteers vested with the executive power to oversee church operations.
Bookstore Team – Orders and sells books for classes and self discovery, jewelry and other cool odds and ends, music, and CDs of services. Volunteers run the store on Sunday mornings and during special events.
Building, Maintenance and Grounds – A team of volunteers that maintain and fix church property in and outside the building.
Folding Team – This fun team gets together every Friday morning to fold programs and to help out with other preparations for Sunday’s service.
Greeting Team - This team greets congregants and answers any questions new visitors may have before and after service.
Hospitality Team – This team is dedicated to serving food and coffee after service and cleaning up afterwards. They also facilitate light lunches on special occasions.
Meditation Garden Team – This team seeks to beautify the riverfront behind the church and create/sustain a serene sanctuary for meditation that is available for anyone to use.
Men’s Group – A band of brothers open to getting to know each other and explore their divine masculinity. The Group hosts the occasional Men’s Retreat and invites its members to help with church related projects.
Music Ministry and The Unity Choir – Orchestrates the musical and choral performances at Sunday services for which Unity on the River has become famous. The Unity Choir is made up of dedicated volunteers and is always open to new members.
Office Volunteers – Sacred Servants who assist the church office by answering phones, making copies, and performing a wide variety of other administrative tasks. Extra help is always appreciated before the Easter and Christmas holidays.
Pastoral Outreach Ministry – This group of specially trained prayer chaplains visit congregants, and/or their family members, in the hospital or in recovery at home or an assisted living facility.
Podcast Volunteer – Volunteers who take turns uploading the Sunday Service into a podcast format so that it may be enjoyed remotely. The uploading may be done from home or via a church computer.
Power Point Team – This team keeps the graphics synched and flowing throughout the service. They also provide an important medium to share announcements, song lyrics, and creative images that deepen the spiritual message.
Prayer Chaplain Team – Trained volunteer Chaplains are available for individual prayer after each Sunday service. The Chaplains go through an extensive training program before holding sacred space during services or offering pastoral care to congregants.
Prayer Shawl Ministry – This sub-group of the Prayer Chaplain Team makes lovely hand-made prayer infused shawls upon request.
Prayer Team – A group of blessed souls whom are trained to hold in the Light of all the congregational prayers that are submitted in writing, via phone, or by e-mail.
Promotions Team – This group puts up flyers for Unity sponsored events at local venues such as public libraries, cafes, health food stores, etc.
Streaming Team – This team live-streams church services and special events via the UOTR Youtube channel. They also archive past services so that they may watched anytime.
Sunday Service Team - This team prepares the Sanctuary prior to service, performs ushering duties and gives flowers and Welcoming Packets to new attendees during service.
Youth & Family Ministry – This ministry combines the efforts of church staff, parents, and volunteers to create and oversee wonderful activities for the youth of the congregation.
