Unity on the River - Sacred Service Teams

Here is an overview of the current Sacred Service Teams at Unity on the River. We invite you to participate in one or more of them. Take a moment to learn about each team and see which one appeals to you. When you decide which one is right for you, contact the Sacred Service Team leader to see how you can help out.

Sunday Service Team •This team oversees all the activities before, during and after the services, such as : greeting the volunteers and leaders from the Usher, Greeter, Hospitality, PowerPoint, and Chaplain teams; accomodating guest speakers' needs; and assisting the minister and other team leaders on an as needed basis during the service.

UOTR Singers • Join us in making a joyful noise! If you are inspired to sing with the choir on Sundays, stop by Choir Practice (which is held almost every Thursday evening). Everyone is welcome!

Sound Team • This team makes sure that the inspirational work of our minister, the choir, and the band can be heard each week within the sacred space of our Sanctuary as well as in our CD recordings.

Chaplain Team • Our trained volunteer Chaplains are available for individual prayer after each Sunday and Wednesday service. The Chaplains go through an extensive training program before holding sacred space during services or offering pastoral care to congregants.

Prayer Team • A group of blessed souls are trained to hold in the Light all congregational prayers that are submitted in writing or via phone and email.

Indra's Net Team • Volunteers reach out to other congregants who are in need and help them in a variety of life-affirming ways.

Hospitality Team • At UOTR breaking bread together is considered a sacred act.These volunteers support this value by lovingly setting up and serving nourishing food and beverages after each service and during special events. They also assist in cleaning up our Fellowship area afterwards!

Art Gallery • The Art Gallery team works with our Artist in Residence in managing our Gallery space and the monthly art shows we host.

Floral Ministry • The Floral Ministry creates wonderful fresh flower arrangements for the altar on Sundays, as well as helping to create arrangements for sale in the Bookstore. Floral arranging is also viewed as a valued form of creative expression and sacred practice at UOTR.

Daytime Volunteers • These individuals offer support to our church office by answering phones, making copies, supporting the Lending Library, and a wide variety of other administrative tasks.

Sacred Thursday Folding Team • This fun team comes together every Thursday evening to fold programs and to help out with other preparations for Sunday's services.

Marketing & Public Relations • This team is all about spreading the good word and activities of Unity on the River through such vehicles as this website, newspaper stories, event posters and more.

PowerPoint Team • The PowerPoint folks keep the graphics flowing throughout the services. PowerPoint displays have become an integral part of our services, sharing important announcements, song lyrics, and creative images that deepen our spiritual messages.

Information Technology Team • The IT team helps the computer and technology systems at the church function properly.

Buildings & Grounds Team • These volunteers uphold our value of honoring our earth home. They focus on the beauty, safety, and efficiency of the building and the grounds.

Green Team • The Green Team supports environmental consciousness and action. This is a very active group that has inspired recycling efforts, sponsored energy audits, conducted classes, and held a retreat with an internationally known environmental activist.
