The Practices of Unity on the River
Prayer and Meditation
We come to know God through prayer. We positively affirm the Truth beyond appearances as we find our own Christ center. We are open to the guidance and direction of Spirit— go within and listening to the “still small voice.” Holding the sacred intention of knowing God, we enter into the silence for a time of silent soul communion.
Forgiveness
Trusting in God’s perfect plan for us, we release the notion that something is against us. We understand that what we resist only persists and that attachment to resentment is a burden we need not bear. We know that what appears as a challenge or a barrier to our good is an opening to higher states of consciousness. We see within all experiences the opportunity for growth and an increasing awareness of our blessings. In place of anger or resentment, we hold to love and acceptance.
Gratitude
We know that an attitude of gratitude keeps us aligned with Truth. Gratitude opens us to receive and makes us aware of all the good already present in our lives. Our prosperity consciousness is the understanding that God is always giving us all manner of good, and that our challenge is to open to receive.
Tithing
We cheerfully and intentionally participate in the Divine Law of Circulation. We know that God is our source and return to our source some of what we have been given. We give to God, to the source of our spiritual nourishment, to those who do God’s work on Earth. By systematically giving at least 10% of all that we receive, we create a greater flow of abundance and well being in ourselves and in the world.
Creative Expression
We are each individual expressions of Spirit. We are here to give form to the flow of Divine Love. We can open to the sacred process of creation and allow our unique light to shine unto the world.
Service
Service is an act of devotion to God. We understand it is our true nature to serve as an expression of Spirit. We are willing to lovingly and joyously act on the Divine ideas we receive from God. We participate in the sacred process of all creation to manifest God’s good on Earth.
